DELEGATION HONORS

In 2002, seven candidates recommended by the American Delegate were admitted by the Grand Master as members of the Savoy Orders, increasing the total membership in the American Delegation to 120.

In the Order of Saints Maurice and Lazarus: one new Cavaliere, one new Cavaliere di Gran Croce (Motu Proprio), and three new Dame, were admitted, while one member was promoted to Ufficiale and one member to Grande Ufficiale.

Two new Devotees of Merit of the Order were installed.

In the Order of Merit of Savoy: two new Cavalieri were admitted and two members were promoted to Ufficiale.

The Cross of Merit of Savoy in Silver was awarded to two members of the Orders for special services rendered to the House of Savoy.

MEMORIAL MASS FOR H.M. KING UMBERTO II OF ITALY

A Mass in memory of H.M. King Umberto II of Italy on the occasion of the 19th anniversary of his death on March 18, 1983, was celebrated on March 23, 2002, at the Church of Our Saviour in New York City. It was organized by the American Delegate Gr. Uff. Avv. Carl Morelli and attended by knights, dames and friends of the Savoy Orders including Dama di Commenda Baronessa Mariuccia Zerilli Mariṃ. Among the participants was H.R.H. Prince Hassan Durrani of Afghanistan. The Mass was celebrated by Father George Rutler, pastor of the Church of Our Saviour, who delivered the homily dedicated to the memory of the King.
