​Organization, roles, duties


​The Dynastic Orders of the Royal House of Savoy include the Supreme Order of the Most Holy Annunciation, the Order of Saints Maurice and Lazarus, the Civil Order of Savoy and the Civil Merit of Savoy. They are governed by the Grand Master, assisted by the Great Offices and the Council. The Great Offices include the Grand Chancellor, the Grand Prior and the Grand Treasurer. The current Grand Master, His Royal Highness Prince Vittorio Emanuele, Duke of Savoy and Prince of Naples, Head of the Royal House, is also assisted by a Council, by a Heraldic Commission, and by the Junta for the Dynastic Orders and those of Knighthood.

The Grand Master is the Supreme Head of the Dynastic Orders of the Royal House of Savoy. He governs and administers the Orders, assisted by the Great Offices (Grand Chancellor, Grand Treasurer, Grand Prior, Grand Master of Ceremonies), the Council and the Junta. The office of Grand Master coincides with that of Head of the Royal House of Savoy, so is held for life. The provisions of the Grand Master are final and without appeal and He alone may revoke them.

His Royal Highness Prince Emanuele Filiberto
Prince of Piedmont, Prince of Venice

​HRH Prince Emanuele Filiberto is the heir to the title of Head of the Royal House of Savoy and, as such, is qualified as Prince of Piedmont according to the House tradition. He is Chairman of A.I.C.O.D.S. (International Association of the Dynastic Orders of the House of Savoy) and is Chairman of the Council of Dynastic Orders so coordinates that forum, assists the Grand Master and the Grand Chancellor with the direction and governance of the Orders; his commitment is specifically dedicated to the charity works of the Orders themselves.

The Grand Chancellor directs and regulates the activities of the Grand Chancellery and its Secretariat, countersigns the Grand Magisterium Deeds, handles the diplomatic relations of the ODRCS, legally represents the Orders and looks after and defends their public image and interests.

The Grand Treasurer administers the finances of the Orders, supervises and handles accounts, controls and approves the balance sheet.

The Grand Prior supervises all Christian aspects of the Dynastic Orders of the Royal House of Savoy, and the individual and collective morality of the Orders themselves.

The Grand Master of Ceremonies supervises all ceremonial and protocol aspects of the life of the ODRCS, and makes sure everyone upholds them.
